Spring and Magnolias

Spring really IS in the air, and I am actually getting very excited for it! Our magnolia bush is usually the first to bloom, though everything else has tiny green buds showing. We used to have a beautiful pink magnolia, too, but sadly had to hack it down. Hopefully we'll be able to replace it one of these years. We've still had a lot of rain and overcast days, but today and yesterday were beautiful! The kids have so enjoyed being outside, Amelia got to play in her swing again, though I can see it needs a bit of mending - and I never trimmed the rope, whoops. I love this pattern, I found it on this blog, and couldn't wait to make it. I used some old dowels that were on the very poorly planned rope ladder on the swing set that was given to us (and I am SO grateful for! Except for that ladder, I just kept waiting for someone to fall and hit their head - I will show why later, but we do have plans to expand and improve the existing set). New ones would have been nicer and easier to work with, but I was impatient and cheap! I actually got this thing knocked out and the kids had a blast with it all summer, Mia frequently using it as a hammock, goofy girl!

  1. Spring is in the air here too - the air is still cold but the sun has been shining and it makes everyone so happy! Your magnolia is beautiful. We have one in our garden but it's only in bud at the moment - it seems to flower later than some other magnolias. x

    1. Cold here, too! Today we are expecting a high of 57 F/ 2C , and we're fresh out of firewood. Heaters will be running! The sun is certainly brightening up moods around here! We do seem to get into an end of winter funk, without realizing it - until the sun pulls us out of it!

  2. Those magnolia blooms are gorgeous! You're so lucky to have such beautiful flowers in your garden. I think spring is really here now although we were still having snow this time last year so there's still a chance the weather might turn and get cold again. I hope not! Love your swing, by the way. And your little girl is cute!
Have a lovely weekend! Marion x

    1. Thanks! I think she's pretty cute, too, haha - though her hair drives me a bit bonkers. It always ends up in her face! I do hope spring is there to stay - it's so nice to be outside in sunny, warmish weather!

    1. It was super easy to make! For extra small Littles, you can make a pillow for the back. The little tear on the seam is from Emma and Owen BOTH swinging in it TOGETHER last summer! Just needs a bit of extra stitching there.
